The use of nanoparticles in commercial applications has highly increased. The inhalation of nanoparticles can be harmful. Therefore, monitoring devices for the assessment of nanoparticle exposure are demanded and needed. We are involved in a large European project dealing with the detection of harmful airborne nanoparticles. Recent development in microstring resonator based sensing allows us to analyse the chemical composition of nanoparticles and coatings.

You are going to investigate different materials to fabricate microstring resonator for photothermal IR spectroscopy application and then to fabricate microstrings with the chosen materialiu in the Danchip cleanroom.
